I am embarrased to toot my own invisible horn

But since this is collage related, here I go anyway; thanks!

Review by LB Sedlacek

Based on a box of inherited photos, Mead
adds on poetical captions to these pictures
that belonged to his parents (both now
deceased).

The images, though, aren't just old
photographs.  Mead has added (or taken
away) from the pictures creating
something most likely entirely new.

One of my favorites is the side by side
pictures of his Grandpa and Grandma Mead --
the left side looks so serious (a serious
firm couple).  The right side looks more
whimsical and fun.  The photo description
calls his grandparents "young," "dignified,"
and "hopeful."

There are more photos of family --
particurlarly one of his Dad, Warren,
with the family farm a shadowy background
in one scene and another as a boy
clutching a Teddy Bear.  Part of Mead's
description is lovely "That sky fills my
eyes now."  He's referring to the Teddy
Bear picture.

While the pages (photos - illustrations)
in this book are a family history of Mead's
family it is an appealing collection to
anyone unrelated.  It's a glimpse into a
life, a history as it unfolds from birth
to marriage and so on.

One family photo is captioned simply "Is
it so hard to conceive we would inherit
such sensitivity?"

My answer to that is "not at all" - this
is truly a sensitive lovely family
history.  Everyone should be so lucky
to grow up -- to have (share) an existence
such as this.
