Grotto (front view)

I discovered the box (which is a desk-top inbox) at a local thrift store as-is: totally encrusted with stones and bronze tacks. It looked like a Catholic grotto to me. I found the angel figure at the same store, and thought she would fit perfectly in the box (she did, slant-wise, as you can see). When I was a child, my grandmother worked at a Woolworth five-and-dime store, and there was a bin full of globe pencil sharpeners, which I coveted. My grandma stole one (!) for me! That sharpener is long since gone, but I found this one on ebay, and so placed it in her hands on top of a half shell (shades of Venus). I love how this turned out!
